21st June - What another fantastic year
Saturday saw the biennual Carnival in Buntingford. The damp weather did not dampen the spirits or the glamour as many local organisations joined with the dance troupes and magicians to provide a colourful parade through the town. Judging of the parade was carried out by Oliver Heald MP, Cllr Tony Didd Chairman of East Herts Council and our own Mayor Mr "B". Ashley and his carnival committee had worked tremendously hard to achieve what many people thought was "one of the best".

The proceeds will be very welcomed by the Lynsey Ivison Trust.

16th May - Can you Help ?
There seems to be a particularly nasty spate of vandalism going on in the town lately. This weekend bottles were smashed on the children' play equipent in Norfolk Road Playing Fields. What mentality have these youths got? What have the young childen done to deserve this? Needless to say such mindless behaviour is not only a pain but also very dangerous. If you see any such acts of vandalism, please report it to the Police immediately and if yuo recognise any of the perpetrators, please let us know.

26th April - Going Going Gone
It is regretable that a key feature of Market Hill, Buntingford is now missing. The Copper Beech tree that has stood in the grounds of the Manor House has had to come down. A few years ago the Town Council received information from a specialist arboricultural expert that the tree was suffering decline and would need to be removed in the near future. Over winter the tree developed bracket fungus at the grafting joint which was effectively its death knell. Health and Safety being paramount, further inspection proved there was no option but to have it removed. In keeping with the planting on Market Hill, a new London Plane will be planted when appropriate.

28th September - New Homes plan passed
Despite being in breach of their own policies and local plan, East Herts District Council, passed the development of 149 houses on the southern end of Buntingford. Buntingford Town Council, at its meeting last night, raised a number of objections to the proposed development at St Francis Close, Buntingford.
