The Town Partnership
Town Centre Management Team and Chamber of Commerce
The Partnership was formed in 2006 when TCMT and Chamber of Commerce agreed to mutual support funding. The collective provision of events and the Christmas Lights were put into the care of the Partnership.
Our aim is still to encourage "a living community with a viable retail sector and to make Buntingford a pleasant place in which to both live and work".
Recent events have been a Christmas Market held on Market Hill on Sunday 26th November from 11.00 to 14.00hrs where 24 stalls were taken by retailers, local schools and organisations. They displayed a wide range of gifts, cards and Christmas associated foods and fund raising goods. The stalls were loaned by East Herts. District Council and the Chamber of Commerce covered the costs of transportation and setting up the Market.
On Friday 1st December, an "historic" but "lower key" Late Night Shopping Evening was held from 8pm until 9pm.
Both of these events attracted reasonable crowds on dates where rain was an influence! However, they were both considered to be a successful and 2007 will see similar activities.
The Christmas Lights have been enhanced this year with a "Welcome to Buntingford" to greet visitors to the town whilst wishing them a "Merry Christmas" when travelling in either direction through the lower High Street and Market Hill area of the town. The 'lights' on the the Market Hill lamp posts were installed on the Eiffel Tower in Paris for the Millennium.
Events Planned for 2007
A Summer Arts Festive covering both local Art Group displays and music from local groups and ending with an Arts Ball. Dates have yet to be confirmed but it is likely to be late June / early July.
The Buntingford Classic Event will be held on Saturday 1st or 8th September from 11am to 4pm and entrants can access the Buntingford Classic Web Site where previous events and information is available. Local enthusiasts will be welcomed onto the organising committee.
Christmas Events being planned are the Christmas Lights Switch-on ceremony, a Christmas Market on Market Hill and a Late Night Shopping evening.
Residents will be welcomed onto the organising Committee and volunteers are required for putting up the Christmas lights.
